Finished size is only the first line
The woven section needs room for take-up and finishing shrinkage. Sampling, fringe or separation space and the portion your loom cannot weave are added afterward, so they are not incorrectly inflated by the percentage allowances.

Manufacturer figures are maximum routes, not promised finished-band lengths. The presets use published specifications for Ashford, Schacht, Louët and Lojan. Measure a homemade or modified loom directly and leave the tension peg in the starting position recommended by its instructions.

The allowances that most often change how much yarn to measure before warping.
How long should an inkle loom warp be?
Start with the finished band length, allow for take-up and finishing shrinkage, then add sampling, fringe or separation allowance and the unweavable length required by your loom.
What is take-up in this calculator?
Take-up is warp length consumed as the yarn bends around the weft during weaving. It is applied to the woven portion, not to loom waste or fringe.
What is inkle loom waste?
It is the part of the warp loop that cannot become finished band because it remains around pegs or near the final weaving area. Measure your loom or follow its instructions.
Can the calculator estimate yarn for each color?
Yes. It reads the current browser-local InklePattern draft and multiplies the required length per end by the number of warp ends assigned to each color.
What if the required warp is longer than my loom capacity?
Choose a shorter finished length, reduce the number of pieces, use a longer supported peg route or make separate warps. Do not force an overlong loop onto the loom.
